ELU-S 2025 CONFERENCE
“European Law Unbound: what kind of Europe can we reach for?”
PANEL 5:06 – PUBLIC FINANCE IN THE EUROPEAN UNION: NEW CHALLENGES AND PERSPECTIVES
September 27th, 2025 09:45 – 11:15
Law Faculty of Charles University, Prague
The panel explores the topic of public finance in the European Union, focusing on itsevolving role in governance and its interaction with the principles of the rule of law. Inparticular, public finance has evolved into a mechanism that shapes key public choices andpolicy directions, with direct effects within the legal and political systems of Member States. This trend is very interesting because it affects some fundamental paradigms of the rule oflaw, acting through peculiar subjects and measures, and even – further – weakening the roleof representative institutions.
